Nikkei withdraws Nissan production-cut story, apologizes

Nikkei has issued a correction and apology for a story it ran April 19 saying Nissan (OTCPK:NSANY) planned to cut global production by 15%.

“The story reported that Nissan planned to produce about 4.6M units, but that figure did not include all types of production,” Nikkei says. “As a result, the comparison with production from the previous fiscal year was not correct.”

Nissan objected to the report at the time as “completely incorrect” and lodged a complaint with Nikkei.

Nikkei has pulled the original story from its site.
